These fools are just showing how stupid they really are. They actually asked the government to change the copyright rules. I see that Odeo has re-invented itself for like the third time, and in doing so they must have pulled some old databases or something because I am finding listing of my show in multiple places, tags moved around from one show to the other and no way to contact the company because their comment system is broken. First of all I am going to say when pigs fly, CNET is reporting that a new report out by the Yankee Group says that they expect Vista to significantly shrink the antispyware and firewall market. I about fell out of my chair. Do they realize how simply amazing those statements are. I for one highly doubt that Microsoft can pull it off.
Did I not read that most of the firewall functions are not even going to be enabled? I for one know how big of a target Microsoft is and the monetary gains by all of these data thieves is a powerful motivator to breach Vista, so that they can keep their cash cow rolling in. [CNET]

We exposed the Blubrry design today to our team of Podcasters at Podcaster News, and the response was very favorable. I had an interesting interview with someone the other day who has a very successful membership website but they never sell memberships.
How do they do it?
They “wholesale” memberships to other people who buy memberships in “blocks” at a very low cost per membership. The wholesalers give the memberships as bonuses with their own products or they sell them.
It’s a win/win deal for everyone. The wholesalers get a valuable product they didn’t have to create.
The membership webmaster gets to do what he likes best-research and write. Plus he has access to over 4,000 qualified members of his website that the can offer related products.

Many people wonder with all the free information available on the internet why anyone would pay for access to a members only website.
I’ll answer this by asking you a few questions. Have you over subscribed to newspaper or magazines or newsletter? Have you ever bought a book on a certain topic? But wasn’t the all or most of the material available from free sources?
You paid for the information either to save time or because you thought the information would be better or more specialized for what you were looking for, isnt that correct? People pay for access to a membership website for the same reasons. They pay to get access to specialized information/coaching/data/service that is hard to find anywhereelse, or would be time consuming to find on their own. etc.
The amount of free information on the information you can findonline is incredible, but have you done a search on google lately. Try it. I just typed in the dog breed, “pit bull” and got 389,000 matches! Do you want to go through 389,000 pages? I sure don’t and a certain percentage of the people looking for information on that topic would be willing to pay for access to a website with just the best information on that or almost any other topics.
By chosing your topic carefully you will find people who are will to pay you for your specific, targeted information, just like they pay for books, magazines, etc.

After reading everything from the “guru’s” many, many years ago, I believed and followed the “unconditional money back guarantee” on all my informational products both low and high priced. (and my first membership site 2 years ago)
However after testing I found that this often attracted what I call “high maintenance” customers and members.
So I stopped offering this kind of unconditional guarentee.
Since then I’ve run into many other successfully people who have the same attitude on guarantees. What we’ve all found is that you attract a much more serious customer and the problem customers screen themselves out by not ordering.
On the flip side, the most problems I’ve ever had is offering an extremely low trial membership (something like $10) with a no question money back guarantee, and found it attracted a ton of high maintenance, whiney, problem members.
Want to get a bunch of new people to your member only site in a hurry? Offer trial memberships to ezine publishers with a large subscriber base. I’ve seen this method bring in a hundred paid subscribers in a little as 2 days.
If you offer the publisher a percentage of the membership fees they are far more likely to promote it to their list. If you have good membership management software it will keep track of the payments.
Everybody wins. The publisher a discounted item for their subscribers (and gets a percentage of the member only billings) the new member gets discount, you get new members to your member only website, automatically.
